Diving Watch: A Guide to the Essential Tool for Underwater Exploration A diving watch, also known as a diver’s or dive watch, is a watch designed for underwater diving that features, as a minimum, a water resistance greater than 100 meters .  A diving watch is not only a timepiece, but also a tool that divers use to monitor their elapsed dive time, which is crucial for avoiding decompression sickness .   While dive computers have replaced the need to use a diving watch, many people choose to wear one as a backup in case the computer fails, or as a stylish accessory that reflects their passion for diving . Diving History

An essential piece of equipment for divers exploring the underwater world. Their primary purpose is to provide accurate timekeeping and monitor dive duration to help divers stay safe and plan their dives effectively. These specialized timepieces are designed to withstand extreme conditions underwater, where they are exposed to high pressure and the corrosive effects of saltwater. One of the most prominent features of diving watches is their water resistance. They are constructed with seals and screw-down crowns to prevent water ingress and keep them intact even at significant depths. Water resistance is measured in meters or atmospheres (ATM), indicating how deep they can be used underwater. A typical diving watch may have water resistance of 200 to 300 meters or more, allowing for diving at considerable depths. Another crucial function is the rotating bezel on the watch dial. This rotating ring has numbers or markings that assist divers in easily measuring dive time and keeping track ...
